Maho Yamada wurde in Niigata, Japan geboren und lebt seit 2003 in der Schweiz. Schon früh begann sie Klavier, Improvisation und Komposition zu studieren. Sie gewann den wichtigen Wettbewerb für junge Talente der Yamaha Music Foundation, mit der sie auch, im Alter von 12 Jahren, eine CD mit eigenen Kompositionen produzierte. Sie setzte ihr Musikstudium unter der Leitung von Hitoshi Toyama am Tokyo College of Music mit Hauptfach Klavier fort und schloss 2000 mit Auszeichnung ab. Sie gewann diverse internationale Preise: u.a. den Sonderpreis beim Japanischen Jugend-Musikwettbewerb 1995 sowie den Ersten und Sonderpreis beim Musikwettbewerb Niigata 1999. So konnte sie anschliessend mehrere Internationale Meisterkurse in Zürich, unter anderem beim berühmten Pianisten Rudolf Buchbinder besuchen. Von 2003 bis 2006 studierte das klassische Klavierrepertoire an der Baseler Musik-Akademie, wiederum bei Rudolf Buchbinder, und schloss dort mit dem Konzertdiplom ab. Seit 2006 studiert sie an der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Hochschule für alte Musik) mit Hauptfach Fortepiano bei Edoardo Torbianelli. Dabei beschäftigt sie vor allem die Musik der Romantik und die historische Aufführungspraxis. Sowohl in Japan, als auch in der Schweiz tritt sie häufig auch als Solistin und Kammermusikpartnerin auf. Daneben sammelt sie vielfältige Erfahrungen als Klavierlehrerin für Schüler jeden Alters. Maho Yamada was born in Niigata Japan and since 2003 she has been living in Switzerland. At an early age she started studying piano, improvisation and composition. She won the prestigious competition for young talents of the Yamaha Music Foundation, with whom at the age of 12, she published a CD with her own compositions, She continued her studies of music during four years at the Tokyo College of Music (under the direction of Hitoshi Toyama) from where she graduated with distinction. She won several international prizes: e.g. the Competition for Young Talents 1995 and the Musical Competition of Niigata 1999. Her success in Japan allowed Maho to attended several International Master Classes in Zurich with the celebrated pianist Rudolf Buchbinder.. From 2003 to 2006 she studied the classical piano repertoire in the class of Buchbinder at the Musik Akademie in Basel, Switzerland from where she received the concert diploma with distinction. Since then she has been studying with Edoardo Torbianelli at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel concentrating on the interpretation of romantic literature and the historical performance practice of the fortepiano. Besides she maintains intensive activities and collaborations as official accompanist of the Musik Akademie and as concert pianist in Japan and Europe, both as soloist and with various chamber music groups. In addition, Maho Yamada has had a wide range of experiences teaching piano to students of all ages.
新潟市(旧亀田町)に生まれる。3歳より兄の影響を受けヤマハ音楽教室にてピアノを始める。 新潟中央高等学校(普通科)、東京音楽大学(ピアノ科)を卒業。1999年第34回新潟県音楽コンクール大賞受賞。大学卒業後スイス、チューリッヒにて世界的ピアニストのルドルフ・ブッフビンダー氏の国際マスターコースを受け渡欧を決意。 2003年スイスに渡り、バーゼル音楽院(Musik-Akademie Der Stadt Basel) にて、ルドルフ・ブッフビンダー氏に師事。在学中よりアンサンブルの高い評価を受けバーゼル音楽院の公式伴奏ピアニストとして活動を始める。2006年国家演奏家資格(Konzert Diplom)を同学院にて取得。その後、バーゼルスコラ・カントールム(Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Hochschule für Alte Musik)で歴史的鍵盤楽器であるフォルテピアノ(ハンマーフリューゲル)の研鑽を積む。 現在ピアノソロ、室内楽、フォルテピアニスト、バーゼル音楽院公式伴奏ピアニスト、また後進の指導と多彩な活動を展開。日本およびヨーロッパ各地にて演奏活動を広げる。 ピアノを大谷真実、竹島悠紀子、外山準、大堀敦子、ルドルフ・ブッフビンダー各氏に、室内楽をセルジオ・アッゾリーニ氏、フォルテピアノをエドアルド・トルビアネッリ、クリスティアン・ベゾイデンホウト、ジェスパー・クリステンセン各氏に師事。 Nasce a Niigata, Giappone, dal 2003 vive in Svizzera. Inizia precocemente lo studio del pianoforte, dell’improvvisazione e della composizione, risultando vincitrice del prestigioso concorso per giovani talenti della Yamaha-Music-Fondation con la quale registra e pubblica, a soli 12 anni, un cd con proprie composizioni. Ha vinto numerosi concorsi internazionali tra i quali: „Concorso giovani talenti 1995“ e „Concorso Musicale Niigata 1999“.Studia al „Tokio College of Musik“ con il M° Hitoshi Toyama, diplomandosi con il massimo dei voti.Ha partecipato alle Masterclass internazionali a Zurigo, Svizzera studiando con il famoso pianista viennese Rudolf Buchbinder.Dal 2003 al 2006 studia alla „Musik Akademie“ di Basilea sotto la direzione del M° Buchbinder e diplomandosi con il massimo dei voti. Negli ultimi anni ha rivolto il suo interesse verso lo studio del Fortepiano, del suo repertorio e della sua prassi esecutiva studiando alla prestigiosa „Schola Cantorum Basiliensis“ sempre a Basilea con il M° Edoardo Torbianelli. Collabora intensivamente, in veste di ufficiale pianista accopagnatrice nella „Musik Akademie“ di Basilea.Svolge regolarmente un’ intensa attività, sia in Giappone che in Svizzera, di concertista in qualità di solista e in differenti formazioni di musica da camera.
